UPSL Announces MAFO Stockton TLJ FC as California Expansion Team

Founded in 2015, Stockton (Calif.)-Based Pro Development Club Joins UPSL

June 20, 2018 – Los Angeles – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is pleased to announce MAFO Stockton TLJ FC as a member kicking off with the 2019 Fall Season.

Based in Stockton (Calif.), MAFO Stockton TLJ FC will begin UPSL play in the Western Conference Wild West Division and play its UPSL home games this season at Stockton Soccer Complex (10055 CA-99, Stockton, CA 95212) in compliance with UPSL's Minimum Standards.

United Premier Soccer League Commissioner Yan Skwara said, "We are excited to welcome MAFO Stockton TLJ FC to the UPSL Wild West Division. What an incredible competition the Wild West has become, and adding a MAFO affiliated club will boost the level even more. Tony Aguilar and Antonio Aguilar are pillars in the Stockton soccer community, and it's great to see that the club is ready to take the next step. We wish MAFO Stockton TLJ FC the best as it prepares for its inaugural UPSL campaign."

MAFO Stockton TLJ FC is owned by Tony Aguilar, Antonio Aguilar and Najib Bitar.

MAFO Stockton TLJ FC Co-Owner Tony Aguilar said, "We already know that this is going to be the right move for us, so we said, 'Why not?' Why not bring something to the Stockton soccer community? There's no higher level here in Stockton for players, and with the UPSL we want to provide that higher level and give more opportunities for players from the Central Valley area. We're very excited to join the UPSL and grow our club in the Wild West Division."

Antonio Aguilar has owned TLJ Indoor Soccer in Stockton (Calif.) since 2015. Aguilar's son, Tony Aguilar, is the Owner of Stockton TLJ FC, a youth club featuring eight teams and more than 100 players that is based out of TLJ Indoor Soccer location.

Najib Bitar is the Head Coach of MAFO Stockton TLJ FC. A native of Stockton, Bitar has partnered with Tony Aguilar and Antonio Aguilar to operate Stockton TLJ Indoor Soccer.

Jose Alcala is Technical Director of Stockton TLJ FC. Jarret Hendrickson is the club's Director of Coaching.

The club is hosting tryouts at 7 p.m. PT on June 26 and July 3 at Stockton Soccer Complex, and will announce its upcoming game schedule.

MAFO Stockton TLJ FC is an American Soccer club currently based in Stockton, Calif., and a new member of the United Premier Soccer League. MAFO Stockton TLJ FC will begin play in the UPSL Wild West Division.

Founded in 2015, MAFO Stockton TLJ FC can participate in the qualifying rounds for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup through their affiliation and membership with the UPSL, the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).

The UPSL was formed in 2011 and currently includes more than 300 teams in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin. UPSL is the fastest growing Pro Development League in the USA, with 400-plus teams targeted for 2019 Fall Season. Each UPSL team is individually owned and operated, and is responsible for maintaining either UPSL Pro Premier Division or Championship Division minimum standards.

UPSL teams are all eligible to participate in the U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Rounds through the leagues affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
